10.5 year sentence in North Carolina bank robbery case
By KevinMarcilliat, In Federal Crimes, 0 CommentsA GPS tracking device led to the arrests of three people for robbing a bank in Wilson, North Carolina, in November 2014. Two of the men had robbed the PNC Bank. They were found in the trunk of a rental car by police, who tracked the signal from the GPS device one of the robbers inadvertently picked up when he grabbed the cash. They were found with $1,579 on them, as well as a firearm.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Wilson Police Department investigated the case. The three men, ages 58, 57 and 41, have pleaded guilty to various charges, including bank robbery, felon in possession of a firearm and aiding and abetting.
The 58-year-old man was recently sentenced to nearly 10.5 years in federal prison for his role. After serving that sentence, he will be on supervised release for another three years.
Violent crimes such as murder, robbery and aggravated assault can lead to decades in prison. As soon as you think you are being investigated for such a crime, it is important to get in touch with an attorney who is experienced in such cases.
Building a defense against such charges can be difficult, depending on what evidence the prosecution has against you. That’s where your attorney comes in. He or she will investigate the alleged crime from the beginning. All evidence will be thoroughly reviewed. Police, medical and arrest reports will also be reviewed. Witnesses will be questioned. Expert witnesses may be called in to testify. If the prosecution does not offer a plea agreement or does but the terms are not acceptable, you want an attorney who is an experienced litigator because you have so much on the line.
