State v. J.A. – First Degree Rape
Bekah Mintz joins Marcilliat & Mills with a singular focus: providing aggressive, unwavering defense for the accused. While she may be the newest addition to the firm, she brings a relentless energy and a hunger to win that sets her apart. Bekah views her role not just as a job, but as a calling to protect the rights of individuals against the overwhelming power of the state. She understands that in criminal defense, details matter, and she approaches every case with a meticulously thorough eye, determined to out-prepare and out-work the opposition.
A graduate of Campbell University School of Law, Bekah earned her Juris Doctor Cum Laude, proving her intellectual command of the law. Her dedication to criminal justice was forged early through her leadership role as Case Lead for the Campbell Law Innocence Project. There, she did not simply study the law; she investigated potential wrongful convictions, analyzing complex factual records to fight for freedom. This experience instilled in her a deep understanding of the high stakes involved in criminal proceedings and the absolute necessity of a zealous defense.
Bekah’s drive is backed by rigorous practical training in the trenches of both state and federal systems. Before joining the bar, she externed with the Office of the Federal Public Defender in Raleigh, where she analyzed complex legal issues and drafted memoranda for high-stakes federal cases. Additionally, her tenure as a Law Clerk at previous law firms exposed her to the realities of district and superior courtrooms, where she drafted trial briefs and shadowed attorneys in both felony and misdemeanor proceedings. She enters the profession having already contributed to the defense of clients facing serious consequences, ready to translate that experience into results.
At Marcilliat & Mills, Bekah combines her sharp legal writing and research skills with a client-centered approach. She believes that the best defense is built on trust, transparency, and tireless advocacy. Unafraid to challenge the status quo and eager to prove herself in the courtroom, Bekah Mintz is dedicated to securing the best possible outcome for every client she represents, ensuring that their voice is heard and their rights are ferociously protected.
