A habitual offender was picked up by police for the sixth time on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI). Police reported that the man’s blood alcohol content (BAC) level was .20, which is more than twice the legal limit in North Carolina.
The man was stopped by police in Gaston County along Bessemer City Road. Police following the car noted that the driver was unable to keep his vehicle between the lanes. It took the man half of a mile to pull the car over. Upon exiting the car, he immediately showed signs of drunk driving.
The man was most recently stopped on May 4 where he was held in Gaston County Jail for driving with a revoked license. His license has been previously revoked permanently because of his habitual DWI offenses.
Police records show that the man has been in jail on three other occasions since 2009, including on charges of failure to pay child support and trespassing. He is currently facing charges of “driving left of center, DWI and driving while license revoked,” according to the WRAL news report. His bond has been set for $10,000.
