Seven people were arrested on drug offenses including cocaine possession, possession with intent to sell and deliver, and conspiracy on or near Bragg and South East Street in Raleigh last Friday. Two others were arrested on cocaine charges the night before as well.
Those charged with drug offenses ranged in age from 19 to 52. Bond was set separately for each person, ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.
Cornelius Watson, 20, and Rodney Walton, 28, were charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell cocaine, and conspiracy to sell cocaine to Donald Briscoe, 52. Briscoe was arrested for possession of cocaine. Walton was also charged with the sale and delivery of a controlled substance.
Kenneth Ruffin, 19, was arrested on possession of cocaine and possession with intent to sell.
Tameika Conyers, 27, and Jacques Meekins, 40, were arrested for selling and delivering cocaine.
James McFarland, 42, was arrested along with Jeremy Peebles, 25, for conspiring to sell cocaine. Peebles was also charged with selling cocaine to McFarland.
If convicted for a drug offense, each person could face prison time, fines and other penalties.
Cocaine is considered a Schedule II Controlled Substance in North Carolina, along with opium, methamphetamine and methadone. A first offender convicted of possession with intent to distribute cocaine could face four to eight months in prison. If you are charged with multiple counts, repeat offenses or for large quantities of cocaine, your sentence could be much longer.
