Two men have been arrested and charged with various forms of breaking and entering, including two counts a piece for intent to commit felony larceny after a police pursuit ended in a two-car collision. Twenty-seven-year-old Brian Johnson and 23-year-old Nicolas Losito stand accused of working together to rob 34 businesses in Cary, Apex and Morrisville.
Police tracked the duo from Cary to Raleigh after witnessing what is noted as ‘suspicious activity.’ The car they were in collided with a police car and eventually led to their arrest.
Both men face felony conspiracy and possession of the tools to commit a burglary charges, in addition to the felony larceny counts. Johnson faces four additional counts of breaking and entering while Losito faces only three.
Felony Larceny In North Carolina
The theft of goods valued at $1,000 or more is classified as felony larceny in North Carolina. Receiving stolen property of $1,000 or more is also considered felony larceny.
If you have no prior criminal history, a felony larceny conviction can land you in prison for four to eight months. If you have a criminal record, you will likely be looking at a much longer sentence if convicted of felony larceny.
Stealing something directly from another person can be charged as felony larceny regardless of the value of the goods or money stolen. Stealing a firearm is also a felony, regardless of the value of the weapon.
A theft of goods valued under $1,000 is classed as a misdemeanor in North Carolina.
