Man arrested on fugitive sexual assault warrant

December 31, 2015 | Sex Crimes

Raleigh police contacted a 26-year-old man from Wilson, North Carolina, when they responded to the scene of a stabbing. According to police, the man allegedly gave several false names and dates of birth. He also allegedly refused to get out of his car.

The police arrested the man for driving with a revoked license and resisting a public officer. In addition, a fugitive warrant out of Texas was found. That warrant was for sexual assault. According to Texas police, the man had reportedly driven a woman home who was intoxicated and then forced her to have sex with him.

The man was booked into the Wake County Jail on a $1 million bail. An extradition hearing was scheduled, which will determine whether he will be returned to Texas to answer the charges on the alleged sexual assault.

Charges such as these can have a significant impact on someone’s life. From his or her job to social life to family relationships, sexual assault and other sex crime charges can damage a person’s reputation. Building a strong defense against such charges is crucial, although these types of charges are often cases of “he said, she said.”

An experienced lawyer can help by providing his or her client with the possible legal options in the case. This might include a plea agreement or a trial. Sometimes, those accused of sex crimes are often portrayed as guilty in the media before a trial even begins. Attorneys understand how to limit the damage to their clients’ reputations while providing a strong defense against the charges.
