Man arrested on human trafficking charges

February 12, 2016 | Sex Crimes

On Dec. 6, 2015, a 15-year-old girl was found at a Raleigh, North Carolina, Econo Lodge. The Raleigh Police Department was informed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that she “might be involved in a suspected commercial sex trade.”

There was a 21-year-old woman with the girl when she was located. That woman is now facing charges of promoting the prostitution of a minor. According to police, the teenager was “physically unharmed.” On Thursday, a 37-year-old man was arrested by U.S. Marshals for forcing the girl into prostitution.

Police said that the man was found under a bed in an apartment in Greensboro after the marshals forced their way inside when no one would answer the door. The girl was being held “in sexual servitude” to “entice, encourage, or otherwise facilitate a minor to participate in prostitution.”

Both the woman and the man are in the Wake County Jail. The man’s bail was set at $500,000 and the woman’s bail is $50,000.

When facing sex crime charges involving children, you may find that the media portrays you as guilty before you even appear in court. Such charges can be extremely damaging to your reputation and can cost you your relationships with family and friends and even your job.

It is vital that you begin developing your defense as soon as possible. Your attorney will interview witnesses, review arrest reports and evidence, and determine what defense strategies should be used in your case. Your attorney will also want to speak with you at length to get your side of the story.
