North Carolina driver accused of DUI following fatal crash

The driver faulted for the crash suffered injuries, but the extent of those injuries is unclear. After North Carolina troopers arrived on scene, they accused the at-fault driver of being drunk.
The fatal collision happened at around 2:24 p.m. not far from the landfill in Johnston County. According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, a Toyota Tacoma was traveling down the roadway when it suddenly crossed the center line. The Tacoma, which was traveling northbound while pulling a trailer collided head-on with a southbound Ford Mustang. Unfortunately, the 44-year-old woman at the wheel of the Mustang didn’t survive.
The 44-year-old Tacoma driver was injured and required hospital care at the WakeMed medical facility. Police have charged him with impaired driving and driving left of the center line. Investigators say they may charge the man with further crimes after they discuss the matter with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office.
