According to a CBS news article, on January 1, 2020, police responded to a call for a welfare check at a house in a southeast Greensboro subdivision. That’s when they discovered the bodies of three victims with apparent gunshot wounds. It was Ms. McKinney’s sister, Delilah Merritt, who called the police claiming that Ms. McKinney said on the phone that she ‘shot everybody in the house.’ According to a FOX8 report, Ms. McKinney was later involved in another incident, where her vehicle crashed onto a utility pole and another car. When police responded to the hit-and-run call, they confirmed that the vehicle involved belonged to the 61-year-old victim, Jerry Griffin. Ms. McKinney was found by police moments later at a nearby convenience store, where she was arrested.
